Application of Battery Energy Storage Systems for Relief of Generation Curtailment in Terms of Transient Stability

Maintaining transient stability is crucial in power system operation. Transient mainly affected by the generation amount of study region, as well transmission topology. Several countermeasures can be taken for stability, but usually used control means are generating unit tripping and curtailment. In terms economic operation, one say that solution more beneficial. To maintain east coast region Korean system, applying curtailment normal state further needed, because required too large case only taking generator tripping, this might cause a critical decrease frequency, possibly resulting operation first stage under frequency relay (UFR).
